A mommy makeover is a tailored combination of surgical treatments designed to restore the body's balance and proportions after pregnancy, breastfeeding or significant changes in the body. Many people find that the body changes markedly during this period – particularly around the breasts, abdomen and waist, and in the firmness of the skin – and that these changes cannot always be trained or treated away.
A mommy makeover is put together individually and can include breast surgery, a tummy tuck and liposuction, among other procedures. At Caolín, we always work with the whole picture and with respect for your anatomy, your wishes and your circumstances. The aim is not to create a new body, but to help you to a version of yourself in which you feel comfortable and in balance.
At a glance
A mommy makeover is an umbrella term for a combination of surgical procedures carried out in the same session, with the aim of restoring the body's shape and proportions after pregnancy and breastfeeding. The most common procedures are a tummy tuck, breast surgery and liposuction – but the combination varies from patient to patient and is always decided in close dialogue with the surgeon.
The advantage of combining the procedures is considerable: you are only under general anaesthetic once, you have a single recovery period, and you achieve a more harmonious result than if the procedures were carried out separately. At Caolín, the combination is always planned carefully, so that the total surgery time and the strain on the body are kept at a safe and responsible level.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding affect the body in several ways at once:
The abdomen is stretched significantly during pregnancy. The skin and muscles rarely return completely – particularly with diastasis recti (separated abdominal muscles) or several pregnancies. The result is a lax, sagging abdomen that does not respond to exercise.
The breasts fill out during pregnancy and shrink again after breastfeeding – a process that leaves them with less volume, more sagging and a changed shape.
Stretch marks, lax excess skin and a loss of skin elasticity are common after pregnancy – particularly on the abdomen, thighs and breasts.
Fat redistributes during and after pregnancy – and often settles on the flanks, hips and thighs in ways that do not respond to diet and exercise.
Although a mommy makeover is always individual, there are combinations that recur – ones we at Caolín have extensive experience in carrying out safely and with beautiful, natural results:
The classic combination. The tummy tuck removes excess skin, tightens the muscles and gives a firm, well-defined abdomen. The breast lift repositions and reshapes the breasts to a lifted, more youthful position. For many, this is the combination that gives the most striking and harmonious overall change.
At Caolín, this is a preferred combination. The tummy tuck gives a firm abdomen – and the fat removed from the abdomen and flanks is purified and grafted to the breasts for natural, soft volume. No foreign bodies, an organic result and two procedures in one session.
For women who want both a lift and more volume, the breast lift is combined with an implant. The lift repositions, the implant adds fullness. The tummy tuck tightens the abdomen. A complete treatment that addresses both the shape and the size of the breasts.
Liposuction of the flanks, waist and hips is added to shape and define the waistline and give a more harmonious contour around the overall result.
The combination is always agreed individually at your consultation, based on your anatomy, your wishes and the amount of surgery it is responsible to carry out in one session.

Good to know
Here you'll find the whole process step by step — from consultation to your first weeks at home. If there's anything you can't find an answer to, bring it along to your consultation.
A mommy makeover is a major surgical procedure, and careful planning is essential for a safe result. At Caolín, there are clear limits to how many and which procedures we combine in one session. We never want to push the extent beyond what is responsible.
The most important conditions for a safe treatment:
– You have finished planning pregnancies. A future pregnancy will affect the result significantly, particularly the abdomen and the breasts.
– You have a stable weight and are close to your target weight. Significant weight loss or gain after the surgery can change the result.
– You are in good general health and have no conditions that increase the surgical risk.
– You do not smoke – or are ready to stop smoking for at least 4–6 weeks before and after the surgery.
– You have help at home for at least the first 2–3 weeks. You will not be able to lift your children or take care of household tasks during this period.
A mommy makeover involves the same risks as the individual procedures combined – bleeding, infection, wound healing problems and complications related to the specific procedures. The total surgery time increases the strain on the body, and that is one of the reasons why we at Caolín always plan carefully and set clear limits on the extent. All risks are reviewed thoroughly at your consultation.
Every treatment at Caolín starts with a no-obligation consultation, where we listen to your wishes, assess your anatomy and put together the plan that suits you best. There is no standard package. There is only your body and your plan. You are welcome to bring someone with you, and you can contact us with questions at any point along the way.
It varies from patient to patient. The most common combinations are a tummy tuck and breast surgery – possibly with liposuction. At Caolín, we always put the treatment together individually, based on your anatomy and your wishes. There is no standard package.
It depends on which breast procedures are included in the treatment. A tummy tuck does not affect your ability to breastfeed. Breast surgery can in some cases affect the milk ducts. If future breastfeeding is important to you, we discuss it openly at your consultation and plan the treatment accordingly.
You should have finished planning pregnancies and finished breastfeeding, as both can change the result significantly. Most people wait at least 6–12 months after they stop breastfeeding, until the breasts have stabilised. You should also have had a stable weight for at least 3–6 months.
It depends on the extent. At Caolín, we set clear limits on surgery time and on the strain on the body. In some cases, we recommend splitting the treatment into two sessions with an interval between them, to keep the risk at an acceptable level. This is assessed individually at your consultation.
Not for the first 6–8 weeks. It is important to arrange help with childcare during this period – it is a precondition for safe healing. We advise you on what you can and cannot do, so you and your family can prepare well.
The different procedures have slightly different healing times, but in general the final result is visible after 6–12 months, once all the swelling has subsided and the scars have matured.
Yes – and in fact it is one of our preferred approaches at Caolín. The fat removed from the abdomen and flanks during the tummy tuck and the liposuction is purified and grafted to the breasts for natural fullness. No implants, an organic result.
The term is a popular one and really covers a combination of procedures that address changes following pregnancy and breastfeeding. The procedures themselves are of course available to everyone – whatever the reason for the changes.
A pregnancy after the surgery will affect the result, particularly the abdomen and the breasts. That is why we recommend waiting until you are sure you have finished planning pregnancies. A future pregnancy is possible, but it will probably require further surgery to restore the result.
The price depends on the combination and the specific procedures, and is clarified at your consultation.
The process
The process starts with a thorough consultation with your plastic surgeon, where you go through your wishes together, the areas you feel have changed, and the results you would like to achieve.
The surgeon assesses the quality of your skin, the shape of your breasts, the anatomy of your abdomen, your muscles and your body's overall proportions, in order to put together the treatment that suits you best. As a mommy makeover often combines several treatments in one operation, great emphasis is placed on safety, healing and realistic expectations. At the same time, you receive an honest and thorough review of the options, the limitations and the expected recovery, so you feel well informed and reassured before you make your decision.
Once your treatment plan is in place, we guide you thoroughly through all the preparations leading up to the day of surgery. You will receive guidance on medication, dietary supplements, smoking, fasting and practical planning at home, as your body needs rest and good conditions in the time after the surgery.
On the day of surgery, you are welcomed by our team, where you meet the nurse, the anaesthetist and the surgeon. The treatment areas are carefully marked, and the whole surgical plan is reviewed with you one last time, so you feel reassured, informed and well prepared.
The surgery is performed under general anaesthetic and is always tailored to the treatments included in your plan. Depending on your wishes and your anatomy, the surgery can include a breast lift, breast augmentation, removal or replacement of implants, a tummy tuck and liposuction.
By combining several treatments in one operation, you have a single healing period and a more harmonious overall result. Throughout the surgery, the surgeon works with great precision and a focus on proportions, symmetry and natural transitions between the body's contours.
When the surgery is complete, the incisions are closed gently, and compression, a support bra or dressings are applied, depending on the areas that have been treated.
After the surgery, you are monitored by our staff until you are ready to go home or, in some cases, to stay overnight for observation, depending on the extent of the surgery. It is completely normal to experience fatigue, swelling, tightness and tenderness in the first few days, as the body works intensively to heal several areas at once.
The first period requires rest, support and patience. We recommend light movement from the start to support your circulation, but at the same time the body must be spared lifting, strain and physical activity in the early weeks. You will receive detailed guidance on compression, pain relief, sleeping position and a gradual return to everyday life.
The result develops gradually over the coming months, as the swelling subsides and the tissue settles into its new balance. Throughout the whole process, you are followed closely by our team, so you always feel reassured and well supported in your healing.
Your journey begins with a personal consultation. Here we go through your wishes and options, so that together we can create a treatment plan that feels right for you.
