Visible thread veins and small superficial blood vessels on the legs are very common. They can develop as a result of genetics, age, hormonal changes, pregnancy and other factors.
Sclerotherapy works by injecting a solution directly into the visible blood vessels. The solution causes the vessel wall to react, after which the blood vessel closes and is gradually absorbed by the body. The blood is then naturally redirected through other, healthy blood vessels.
The treatment is particularly well suited to smaller superficial veins and thread veins on the legs. The result develops gradually, and several treatments may be needed depending on the number and size of the vessels treated.
Sclerotherapy is a targeted treatment where the aim is to reduce the visibility of the unwanted blood vessels and create a more even appearance on the legs.

Sclerotherapy is an injection treatment in which a specially developed solution is injected into visible, superficial blood vessels. The treatment causes the treated vessels to close, after which the body gradually breaks them down.
The treatment is particularly well suited to smaller superficial blood vessels and thread veins on the legs. At the consultation, we assess whether sclerotherapy is the right treatment for you.
The treatment is carried out with small injections and may cause a brief prick or mild discomfort. Most people find the treatment manageable.
The result comes gradually. The treated blood vessels first become less visible and are then broken down by the body over time. The final result can therefore take several weeks or months.
That depends on the number and size of the blood vessels and the result you want. Some people achieve a clear improvement after one treatment, while others need a course of treatments.
There may be redness, swelling, tenderness or minor bruising around the treated areas. You can usually resume your normal activities after the treatment.
The process
We begin by assessing your legs and the visible blood vessels. Among other things, we look at the size, location and appearance of the blood vessels to determine whether sclerotherapy is the right treatment.
The specially developed solution is carefully injected directly into the selected blood vessels. The treatment is carried out precisely and in a targeted way.
There may be mild redness, swelling or bruising in the area. You will receive advice on aftercare and any precautions, so your skin and the treated vessels have the best conditions to heal.
The treated blood vessels close and are gradually broken down by the body. The improvement therefore becomes more visible over time. If visible vessels remain, a further treatment can be considered.
Your journey begins with a personal consultation. Here we go through your wishes and options, so that together we can create a treatment plan that feels right for you.
